On June 21, Swiss luxury watchmaker Hublot announced the sale of 200 new limited-edition watches, which will be available for purchase online using selected cryptocurrencies via BitPay.
The new Big Bang Unico Essential Grey will be offered only through Hublot’s eBoutique in the United States, with the watch costing roughly 20,700 euro ($21,800), or little over one Bitcoin at the current market price of the flagship digital asset.
The development comes after another luxury Swiss watchmaker, TAG Heuer, announced in May that cryptocurrency payments will be accepted for all online transactions on its US website.
TAG Heuer announced their new crypto payment option, which will support 12 digital currencies, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Dogecoin, and five dollar-pegged stablecoins, thanks to a collaboration with BitPay.
It’s worth noting that TAG Heuer has stated that accepting cryptocurrency payments will be the company’s first entry into Web3 and the broader use of blockchain technology and NFTs.
The move, according to TAG Heuer, is part of the company’s growing digital ecosystem, which includes apps and watch faces built by in-house developers and carrying the brand’s trademark design signatures.
Thanks to a function that allows the watch to securely connect to a number of crypto wallets like as Metamask or Ledger Live, users may choose which NFTs they want to show on their wrist.
