HTC officially launched a new smartphone, Desire 22 Pro, which used metaverse technology as previously disclosed.
As mentioned, the HTC Desire 22 Pro is a smartphone that integrates with Metaverse technology, which has the Viverse app pre-installed to guide users into the metaverse world through the Vive Flow lens. In addition, Diverse also allows the owner to participate in NFT trading and “create a virtual reality space” for himself.
Like previous Web3 smartphones, the Desire 22 Pro also comes with a Vive Wallet built into Ethereum and crypto assets on Polygon.
Shen Ye, HTC’s Global Product Manager, said:
“Smartphones ‘open up new immersive experiences through VIVE Flow,’ whether meeting VR colleagues or enjoying your cinema wherever you are.”
However, Desire 22 Pro is not a flagship high-end phone of HTC as expected by many people; the company only advertises this as a “powerful mid-range device,” paving the way for metaverse technology.
On the front, a 6.6-inch Gorilla Glass screen with 1080 x 2412 pixels resolution and a high scanning frequency of 120 Hz with a 32MP selfie camera located in the left corner of the screen.
In terms of performance, the Desire 22 Pro is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 5G chip, 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage, 4,520 mAh battery that supports fast charging.
On the back, the Desire 22 Pro has a system of 3 main cameras, including a 64MP wide-angle camera, 13 MP ultra-wide-angle, and 5 MP depth measurement.
Regarding the selling price, HTC Desire 22 Pro will officially go on the shelf on July 1 for $400. Pre-order customers will receive a “Metaverse Early Bird” gift package, including phone accessories and a few other valuable NFT items. Users can also buy Desire 22 Pro and Vive Flow glasses for around $800.
A long time ago, in 2018, HTC pioneered the production of blockchain smartphones with Exodus 1 and Exodus 1S the following year with more affordable prices. However, it did not receive positive user feedback and gradually fell into oblivion. The company’s market share is believed to have plummeted in 2018, and HTC sold most of its design talent to Google through a $1.1 billion deal.
With Desire 22 Pro, HTC is betting heavily on the Web3 phone market share. The Samsung technology “giant” has recently launched the Samsung Wallet digital wallet and a crypto wallet that supports Bitcoin and Ethereum’s ERC-20 tokens in high-end smartphone product lines since S10, supporting NFT on TV and metaverse testing. Apple is also preparing to release an AR/VR headset next year.
Or Solana recently launched Solana Mobile Stack on the Android mobile platform and unveiled the launch of the Saga smartphone in early 2023.
