Aztec Connect is a bridge solution that allows DeFi transactions to take place under a layer of security and anonymity. This mainnet deployment announcement was also posted on the official Aztec Network Twitter.
Development Director Jonathan Wu said:
“I think of Aztec Connect as a VPN [virtual private network] for Ethereum. Anything that you can do on Ethereum you can now do with privacy through the Aztec Connect system.”
In March 2021, Aztec implemented the zk.money protocol, which brings a secure experience to transactions on Ethereum.
Accordingly, the Connect version is a step further, as it allows users to connect Ethereum with many other chains, hiding under a layer of information security for transactions. Common operations such as staking, swapping, and DAO fund management can all be performed with ease.
The Aztec Network includes Zero-Knowledge Rollup (or ZK Rollup) technology, which encapsulates transactions prior to full validation on the Ethereum mainnet, saving gas fees for every single transaction.
Aztec Connect is looking to build a Software Development Kit (SDK) that will make the process of integrating applications into Aztec simpler.
The previous zk.money protocol has also been upgraded, allowing users to anonymously interact with liquid staking with Lido or lending on Element Finance.
