The Morning Consult survey found that about four in ten Americans who own crypto have Dogecoin in their portfolio. For comparison, Shiba Inu stands at 26%. The two meme-coins have managed to maintain their popularity even though they have lost about 90% of their value.
Of course, Bitcoin and Ethereum are the two most popular cryptocurrencies (75% and 49% respectively). Circle’s USD Coin and Litecoin are in fourth and fifth place, respectively. Binance Coin, Solana, Cardano, XRP, and Tether’s USDT are also in the top 10.
The vast majority of crypto holders (66%) admit that they participate for the money. However, adoption tends to vary globally. For example, Japanese and Korean buyers mostly prefer cryptocurrency because it is “useful for online transactions”.
More and more Americans are advocating tougher regulations after popular projects like Terra collapsed. Men, millennial investors, and high-income Americans continue to drive crypto adoption.
Back in March, another survey by Morning Consult found that 91% of US adults had heard of cryptocurrencies. Less than a third of Americans believe that a central bank digital currency will be able to pose a challenge to cryptocurrencies.
