On the project Twitter page, it announced the mainnet for Nova, as well as the latest updates regarding the much-awaited previous version, Arbitrum Nitro (an upgraded version of the current Arbitrum One).
Further explaining why there are many chains operating in parallel on the Arbitrum ecosystem, the project side said:
In addition, the basic technical difference between the two chains is that Arbitrum Nova is developing on AnyTrust technology, while Arbitrum One is currently developing based on Optimistic Rollup technology.
Nitro is an upgraded version for Arbitrum One and is still in the finishing stage before being put into use with high capacity.
Previously, Arbitrum had to suspend the current Odyssey incentive program on Arbitrum One, due to a large number of transactions pouring into the network, causing the system to overload and increase gas fees suddenly.
Accordingly, whether Arbitrum will re-implement the above incentive program soon or not, depends on Nitro’s progress. In the article, the team explained the update progress for the Nitro version:
“For our community of builders focused on Arbitrum One, we have even more exciting news coming in short order (alpha leak ahead). We are very close to the Arbitrum Nitro migration and the last testing milestone before that happens on mainnet will be migrating the Arbitrum Rinkeby testnet to Nitro. We are days away from that and once that happens we’ll be full steam ahead.
Additionally we are planning on standing up a new Nitro-based Arbitrum Goerli testnet to serve as the long-term Arbitrum testnet. We’ll be sharing more details around timing and what our developer community can expect with these changes in a follow-up post in the coming days.”
