It’s almost time for the Ethereum network to switch from Proof-of-Work (PoW) mining consensus to Proof-of-Stake (PoS).
The Ethereum (ETH) developers recommended a permanent merger date on Thursday during a conference call. During the conference call, Tim Beiko, a core Ethereum engineer in charge of the core protocol meetings, proposed September 19 as a potential merger target date. The suggested merge date was not met with any opposition from the core developers.
Earlier this year, Sepolia’s testnet Beacon Chain went live, setting the stage for its Merge dress rehearsal and giving Ethereum network engineers crucial technical data. The Sepolia and the network eventually came together on July 7. The final trial for Merge will be shown on the Goerli network during the second week of August. Following its merging, the official Merge, anticipated for the second half of September, would gain precedence for developers.
