Public Wallets Spam ETH From Tornado Cash

After Tornado Cash was banned by the US, certain individuals sent ETH from the platform to the wallet addresses of many famous figures in the cryptocurrency industry. This can be seen as the act of testing the boundaries of the U.S. Treasury Department’s sanctions on Tornado Cash.

On August 9, many Twitter users found it strange that someone had sent multiple transactions containing 0.1 ETH from Tornado Cash to the Ethereum wallet addresses of celebrities in the crypto industry. The list of recipients of this spam ETH amount includes Vitalik Buterin, Anthony Sassano, Ben Horowitz, Jimmy Fallon, Shaquille O’Neal, Brian Armstrong, Randi Zuckerberg, Logan Paul, and Steve Aoki,…

This is probably an act of protest against the news that the US blocked Tornado Cash. However, it also points to the absurdity of the ban because with the decentralized nature of Tornado and Ethereum, users can still connect an ETH wallet to this mixer platform, and then send ETH to any address. only they want and the recipient cannot refuse to accept.

Under the new law, US citizens and organizations in the aforementioned group must block receiving money from Tornado Cash, and freeze the transaction and the amount received.

Since the US announced the ban on Tornado, there have been many amusing calls to send ETH from Tornado to someone you hate, or investment funds that are said to have been dumped on top of the community.

It can be said like this, the wallet address where you send ETH will be the target of the blacklist that is targeted when there is a legal problem.

It is not clear how the US government will handle the above wallet addresses and whether there is a new form of regulatory change.
