Real Madrid And FC Barcelona Are Interested In Entering The Field Of Metaverse

Despite the struggling market and the trading volume of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) going down in the second quarter of 2022, organizations, brands, and celebrities worldwide are still flocking to apply for related trademarks. Real Madrid and Barcelona are the two latest big players to join the metaverse.

Interestingly, the top 2 football clubs filed for a joint cryptocurrency and metaverse trademark application, according to the metaverse trademark attorney Mike Kondoudis who shared the news on Twitter on August 11.

On August 5, the El Clásico rivals filed trademarks covering virtual reality games, non-downloadable virtual clothes, footwear, headgear, downloadable blockchain transaction management software, and e-wallet software…

Meanwhile, these two football titans are not the first to join the metaverse space. In early July, British football club Crystal Palace filed a trademark for its crest, covering NFTs, cryptocurrencies, crypto exchanges, virtual clothing, sports gear…

In late March, Paris Saint-Germain also joined the NFT bandwagon by applying for NFT-backed multimedia, virtual clothes, sportswear, gadgets, crypto wallets, and crypto transaction management.

On top of that, as CoinCu revealed in late June, Cristiano Ronaldo secured an exclusive NFT relationship with crypto exchange Binance to launch multiple NFT goods on the site.

It seems that the king sport is also gradually expanding into virtual reality and asserting its influence through expensive contracts through cooperation deals of famous players or clubs.
