Flashbots Implement Open Source For User Moderation

Flashbots, the solution to mitigating the MEV problem on the blockchain, have made new moves in response to regulatory requirements.

On August 17, @bertcmiller, a member of the solution development team, posted a tweet announcing that it would open-source Flashbots Relay.

Flashbots is an auction-enabled marketplace for on-chain arbitrage opportunities. With this approach, the project will help mitigate the negative impacts of MEV on the blockchain ecosystem as a whole.

The immediate context of this message is unknown, but most likely what Hasu (a key member of the project’s development team) is referring to is Flashbots Relay’s open source implementation.

This action was presumably in response to legal issues and censorship requests from the US Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC).
