According to a Warner Music Group press release, artists connected to thewill have their own drop sites on OpenSea in an effort to increase fan involvement and community.
Shiva Rajaraman, OpenSea’s Vice President of Product, said in the statement:
“For artists and musicians, NFTs represent a new creative medium and a mechanism to build community, engage directly with fans, and express themselves across borders and languages.
As a massive music fan myself, I’m thrilled to work with a partner who understands the significance of this technology, and wants to use it for good – to empower artists to own their fan connections directly. We’re excited to provide the support and infrastructure to help welcome the Warner family of artists into the exciting NFT ecosystem.”
The collaboration between Warner Music Group and OpenSea comes on the heels of previous advances in the music NFT ecosystem in 2022.
The first collection is now in the works with Warner Records UK in cooperation with Web3 startup, Probably Nothing.
Warner Music’s industry-leading approach has resulted in relationships with a number of key Web3 players in recent years. This current cooperation is the latest in a series of endeavors to expand the music label’s expertise in the field.
