London-based crypto exchange Blockchain.com said today October 12 that it has been authorized in principle by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) for a Technical Payment Token license number. The announcement comes a day after crypto giant Coinbase also received similar approval.
The license is an “in-principle” approval under the Provision of Digital Payment Token Services to the Public, allowing the firms to provide Singaporeans regulated financial services.
Blockchain.com, which was valued at $14 billion in March, said in a statement that it views Singapore as an attractive location to grow its institutional customers and team. Half of its business comes from institutions and its retail business has 84 million wallet holders from 200 countries
