The International Organization of Securities Commissions has appointed Jean-Paul Servais as its new chairman. Servais, Chairman of the Financial Services and Markets Authority of Belgium (FSMA) and formerly Vice Chairman of the IOSCO Board of Directors, will replace Ashley Alder.
It is a global standard-setting company for the securities sector. It recently called on securities regulators to have the power to request the removal of foreign cryptocurrency advertisements. Additionally, IOSCO’s fintech task force, established in March, said in June that it would focus on developing global crypto rules.
The new Board also appointed Ariizumi Shigeru, Vice Commissioner for International Affairs, Financial Services Agency, Japan, as well as Rostin Behnam, chair of the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission to be its new vice chairs.
