Twitter is the most effective tool for reaching out to the crypto community. As a result, hacking into official Twitter handles of verified accounts to promote fraud is becoming more common.
Unknown hackers took hijacked Gate.io’s Twitter account and altered the website URL from Gate.io to gate.com (https://xn—gte-ipa.com/) – a bogus website mimicking the exchange.

The fraudulent website aggressively promotes a 500,000 USDT giveaway while requesting visitors to link their wallets (such as MetaMask) to receive the prizes. When a user links their wallet to a bogus website, the hackers obtain access to their current cash and drain them.
Peckshield also validated the continuing assault by detecting the phishing website and warning users about the dangers of losing private keys.
