The security and monitoring team saw anomalous activity and reported a DDoS attempt around 21:00 (GMT +8) on November 4. To decrease the amount of unneeded traffic, the team first tried shielding and restricting requests, but, at this stage, it was unable to remedy the issue.
As soon as possible, the team contacted AWS security engineers for extra assistance. On November 5, the Loopring wallet services were reinstated, and the domain access for the mobile app side was changed.
In addition, This DDoS attack only prevented Loopring from providing external services; it had no impact on the security of assets on the blockchain.
During the attack, the Loopring relayer continued to generate ZKP blocks and submitted them to the Ethereum blockchain. Such attacks will never affect or jeopardize users’ assets.
After the incident, the LRC price not only did not fall but also spiked more than 30% to a high f $0.428. At the time of writing, LRC is trading at $0.3588.
