An FTX address with a balance of 46.36 million USDT was classified as blacklisted, according to Whale Alerts. The seizure was carried out at the direction of law enforcement.
An official from Tether is quoted as saying:
“Legal petitions to provisionally freeze assets while investigations take place are beginning to come in from LE,”
Prior to this, CryptoSlate claimed that during the early trading hours of November 10, Tether’s USDT had somewhat lost its peg. According to rumors in the market, Alameda was shorting the asset in anticipation of future declines.
Previously, the stablecoin issuer denied any involvement with Alameda Research or the faltering cryptocurrency exchange.
