Over the weekend, Vitalik Buterin quietly donated another 20 million DOGEs to the Dogecoin Foundation, once again showing how the meme coin has potential, even as current Twitter CEO Elon Musk also publicly supports it.
This is not Vitalik Buterin’s first donation to the organization. Previously in May 2022, the founder of Ethereum once transferred 500 Ethereum (ETH), worth more than $1.3 million at that time to the fund after officially becoming a member of the Dogecoin advisory board. The foundation with Elon Musk’s representative is Neuralink’s CEO, Jared Birchall.
It is not yet clear how the Dogecoin Foundation will use the donation. Over the weekend, DOGE continued to surprise the community when it skyrocketed nearly 10% when it was directly mentioned by Elon Musk: “DOGE To The Moon” during a discussion on Twitter about the collapse of FTX.
At the time of writing, DOGE is trading at $0.0875.
