Musk is alleged to have notified staff about the idea of including direct encrypted messages in the Twitter 2.0 project. According to reports, Musk intends to offer encrypted video and phone calling between individual users.
In the most recent report, security experts hint at uncovering Signal Protocol code references in Twitter’s software. Jane Manchun Wong, a digital creator, stated that the social media platform is considering using Signal for direct encrypted messages.
If this is confirmed, it could represent a significant step forward in Musk’s plans. Meta’s Facebook Messenger, for example, has been using the Signal Protocol since 2016.
The Signal Protocol is a non-federated cryptographic protocol that can be used to provide end-to-end encryption for voice calls and instant messaging conversations.
Musk told Twitter employees about his plan to relieve users of the burden of worrying about their privacy. He allegedly outlined plans to enable messaging without worrying about data breaches.
Previously, there were many reports that former FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried had invested $100 million in Twitter. Soon after, Elon Musk immediately voiced harsh criticism about this false information.
