Optimism‘s branch of the existing L1 Goerli and Goerli networks will perform an hour-long end-to-end migration on both networks. The forked Optimism Goerli network will be upgraded to Bedrock after the preview.
This migration guide is intended primarily for infrastructure providers and running nodes. Cannon, an interactive fault proof system, will use Bedrock as its backbone. Its benefits include lower transaction fees, higher maximum throughput, and faster node synchronization.
Prior to May, the firm introduced Bedrock, a new decentralized Rollup architecture that reused as much as could of Ethereum’s code, infrastructure, and design patterns, and stated that “EVM equivalent” is a thing of the past, and what Bedrock delivers is “Ethereum equal.“
