Do Kwon Newly Discovered Hiding In Serbia

The Korean investigative agency has confirmed that Do Kwon is indeed in Serbia. Currently, the Korean Ministry of Justice is in the process of requesting cooperation from the Serbian government in the investigation.

On December 12, according to Korean media reports, relevant sources revealed from the Korean investigative agency that Do Kwon, the founder of Terra, is currently stranded in Serbia. The information is also confirmed to be completely accurate.

“We recently obtained intelligence that CEO Kwon is in Serbia and that has been determined to be true.”

The government has launched an investigation. Reportedly, the Korean Ministry of Justice is requesting cooperation from the Serbian government, and investigative agencies are investigating whether there are special facilitators in Serbia.

Earlier reports said that Do Kwon visited Singapore in April last year and right before the Luna incident happened. He then left Singapore by the time Korea and Interpol issued a wanted notice. He was later found to have traveled to Dubai, United Arab Emirates, which is seen as having an open-minded policy towards cryptocurrencies.

The purpose of Do Kwon’s trip to Serbia remains unclear. South Korean prosecutors believe he is hiding abroad to avoid investigation. Do Kwon has repeatedly denied most of the allegations in interviews with other media, claiming via channels like Twitter that he “didn’t run away”.

The Securities and Financial Crimes Unit of the Seoul Southern District Prosecutor’s Office received an arrest warrant for Kwon on charges of providing false information to investors in September. Interpol has also issued a red notice, the highest wanted level for arrest and repatriation.
