As mentioned in an earlier Coincu News article, SBF was arrested by the Bahamas government on December 12th after receiving official notice from the US that it had charged Bankman-Fried and possibly will request his extradition.
US Attorney for the Southern District of New York Damian Williams said the indictment is expected to be announced Tuesday morning local time and more news will be available at that time.
According to the New York Times, people familiar with the matter revealed that criminal charges against former FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried (SBF) in the United States include wire fraud, conspiracy to commit wire fraud, securities fraud, securities fraud conspiracy and money laundering. In addition, the source mentioned that SBF was the only person charged in the indictment.
Previously, the former FTX executive had repeatedly insisted he was not trying to cheat and was “ignorant” of the large $8 billion disparity in the balance sheet. If there is an error, it can only be due to a lack of responsibility in management.
However, many sources reveal and the fact that the current situation of FTX and Alameda has shown that his justifications are completely absurd.
Members of the collapsed cryptocurrency exchange FTX’s inner circle created a chat group named “Wirefraud” and used it to share sensitive information about operations in the run-up to the company’s spectacular failure.
