According to ConsenSys, this is the first interoperability between PayPal and the Web3 wallet. Users will be able to enter into PayPal from within the wallet app and acquire ETH or send current ETH reserves on their PayPal account directly to their MetaMask wallet.
This new capability is already accessible to select US users and will be offered to all qualified US customers in the coming weeks.
Lorenzo Santos, Product Manager for MetaMask, said:
“This integration with PayPal will allow our U.S. users to not just buy crypto seamlessly through MetaMask, but also to easily explore the Web3 ecosystem.”
The integration is the latest in a series of announcements aimed at improving and diversifying payment alternatives for MetaMask mobile app users.
PayPal continues to offer access to crypto services as it grows into new markets. Earlier this month, the payment provider launched crypto services in Luxembourg, allowing clients to purchase, hold, and exchange crypto.
