Prosecutors have contacted “representatives for campaigns and committees that had received millions of dollars from Mr. Bankman-Fried, his colleagues and their companies” since SBF’s arrest on Monday.
A prosecutor in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York sent an email to a law firm representing prominent Democratic political groups requesting information on donations from SBF and its associates.
Additionally, campaign groups, large super PACs, and Rep. Hakeem Jeffries all received emails. It is reported that after the FTX scandal broke, Jeffries and other politicians “either returned donations linked to FTX or gave the money to charity after the company became embroiled in scandal.”
According to previous news, the Democratic National Committee and the campaign committees of the Democratic Senate and House of Representatives said earlier this week that they planned to return more than $1 million in donations to SBF.
