Wells Fargo Scandal Needs More Attention, According To The CEO Of Ripple

Key Points:

  • Brad Garlinghouse, the CEO of Ripple featured the superhero Batman smacking Robin, a character from DC Comics.
  • Wells Fargo was hit with a record-breaking penalties of about $4 billion by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
  • Sam Bankman-Fried has been charged with a crime by Bahamian prosecutors
Brad Garlinghouse, the CEO of Ripple, tweeted an FTX-related image on Wednesday that featured the superhero Batman smacking Robin, a character from DC Comics.

But Wells Fargo unlawful behavior!” says Robin’s caption, to which Batman vehemently replies, “We only care about FTX.” The meme’s commenter, Garlinghouse, expressed anger that the FTX scandal’s degree of outrage had not been matched by the record-breaking penalties recently imposed against Wells Fargo for its years-long maltreatment of consumers.

After mistreating its customers for years, Wells Fargo was hit with a record-breaking penalties of about $4 billion by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. With a history of more than ten years, it is becoming clear that Wells Fargo is one of the worst-managed large banks in America, with a plethora of complaints coming from both customers and workers.

Wells Fargo levied overdraft fees even in instances

According to the CFPB, Wells Fargo levied overdraft fees even in instances where consumers had more than enough money to pay for their transactions and actively pursued the repossession of some borrowers’ homes or cars for erroneous reasons over the 2011–2020 time frame.

Sam Bankman-Fried has been charged with a crime by Bahamian prosecutors, who claim that he was instrumental in keeping investors and the general public in the dark about the collapse of the cryptocurrency exchange FTX earlier this year. Bankman-Fried is charged with securities fraud, wire fraud, and money-laundering.
