Twitter Adds Bitcoin Price Index To The Platform

Key Points:

  • The social network Twitter will display BTC and ETH price charts every time a user enters “Bitcoin” or “Ethereum” in the search bar.
  • After the new feature was discovered by the online community, Twitter CEO Elon Musk confirmed and said this is one of the innovations aimed at the financial niche.
  • The price chart integration could lead to more traffic to Robinhood, as the #Bitcoin tag alone has been tweeted about 120,000 times per day.
Twitter, a social media site, has introduced a new cryptocurrency tool that enables users to look up the price of Bitcoin (BTC) and Ether (ETH) by just putting their names or tickers into the search tab.

The upgraded $Cashtags feature was introduced on December 21 by the Twitter Business account.

The account stated that consumers will be able to see a clickable link that brings them to search results that now contain the pricing graphs for those symbols whenever one tweets the symbol of a significant stock, exchange-traded fund, or cryptocurrency with $ in front of it.

It also mentions that you may see the price graph by simply typing in the ticker symbol, whether it be for a stock or cryptocurrency.

Using a plug-in from the charting platform TradingView, the social networking site has included Bitcoin prices in search results.

At the time of writing, it appears that BTC and ETH are the only two cryptocurrencies with price charts. Although Dogecoin is Elon Musk’s favorite cryptocurrency, it has not been updated with this feature.

Searching keywords like “$Bitcoin,” “BTC price,” and “Bitcoin price” will also display the price chart, similar to searching with ETH.

Elon Musk, the CEO of Twitter, posted the news of the new feature shortly after it was announced, noting that it was one of many product improvements coming to financial Twitter.

With this connection, users may enter the ticker symbols for stocks or cryptocurrencies to see the current price and a price chart. A link to the trading app Robinhood is also included in the outcome.

Additionally, Twitter Business stated that it anticipates improving user experience and extending its coverage of symbols in the coming weeks.

According to data from BitInfoCharts, Twitter’s price chart integration could lead to more traffic to Robinhood, as the #Bitcoin tag alone has been tweeted about 120,000 times per day, not to mention similar tag keywords. Meanwhile, #Ethereum is tweeting about 25,000 times per day.

On December 21, Elon Musk said he was ready to leave according to the results of the vote, but only if he found a suitable replacement. After resigning, he will step back to be in charge of the software/server teams of the platform.
