One of the original Bitcoin developers, Luke Dashjr, revealed today on Twitter that his PGP key had been hijacked and that his Bitcoins had been taken.

After learning of the theft, the well-known developer voiced shock and amazement and theft questions about why he couldn’t get through to anyone at the FBI or IC3.

The exact quantity of lost Bitcoin is still unknown, however, according to Dashjr, a sizeable sum appears to have been sent to 1YAR6opJCfDjBNdn5bV8b5Mcu84tv92fa using the CoinJoin mixing service.

Dashjr, one of the most skilled individuals in the cryptocurrency industry, turned to social media to ask for assistance. It is possible that the amount of Bitcoin for personal reasons is not provided.

For the cryptocurrency community, the knowledge that the longtime Bitcoin core developer still had his coins served as a grim reminder. It can be said that a skilled person like Dashjr can still lose his property, there is no guarantee for the user.

Some others claim that Dashjr is lying because the amount of Bitcoin stolen is not specified.

Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao (CZ) also responded to Dashjr’s tweet. He said:

“Sorry to see you lose so much. Informed our security team to monitor. If it comes our way, we will freeze it. If there is anything else we can help with, please let us know. We deal with these often, and have Law Enforcement (LE) relationships worldwide.”

Besides, CZ also confirmed that he would do his best to help, and he himself revealed the amount of BTC is more than 200 coins.

Since there is no centralized organization in charge of managing digital assets, it is up to each individual to take extra precautions to prevent unlawful access to their possessions.
