All newly generated accounts are added to the app as followers of the Damus app’s official page. The Damus page has a total of 45,454 followers as of the time of writing.

The app had been prepared for months before the Apple Store eventually gave its approval for distribution on February 1.

The Damus app team withheld any official data regarding the quantity of accounts. However, the app’s official Twitter account reported that just 10 hours after its launch, it had climbed to the top of the Apple Store’s Social Networking charts.

Users have total control over their content and data thanks to the app, which is a decentralized version of Twitter. Since December 2022, the source code has been available on GitHub.
