Hacker Harmony Moves $726k Worth Of WETH That Was aken

On February 3, the Harmony Bridge transferred 463.82 Wrapped Ethereum (WETH) worth about $726,000 into “0xA60C37d8362F6adf61317Bf6306A52d8087127Da.”

As of the time of publication, the new wallet had received 463.82 WETH over five transactions and had been idle for almost an hour.

Blockchain investigator ZachXBT tweeted about the shift in stolen funds, including a detailed mapping of the funds’ movement through numerous wallets.

The 2022 attack on Harmony’s Horizon Protocol was carried out by the North Korean Lazarus Group, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) announced on January 23.

The FBI claimed that the North Korean government sponsored Lazarus Group and its affiliated organizations, and that they were seeking to recover the crypto that had been stolen.

On-chain investigation on January 31 showed that the hacker was trying to shift part of the illegal funds utilizing exchanges and the Railgun smart contract “Zero Knowledge Proof” technology.

At least two exchanges, Binance and Huobi, halted the transfer of funds. 124 Bitcoin (BTC) worth $2.58 million were recovered thanks to Binance when the hacker tried to use the exchange to launder the stolen money.
