Binance Looks To New Lobbyist In Brussels

Key Points:

  • Binance is hiring a lobbyist in an effort to have an impact on the crypto regulatory sector.
  • In order to have access to representatives from the European Commission and European Parliament, the position would be stationed full-time in Brussels.
  • According to the website, Binance is also hiring for more entry-level policy communications positions across Asia and Latin America.
Binance, the biggest cryptocurrency exchange in the world, is hiring a lobbyist in an effort to have an impact on the crypto regulatory sector.

The lobbyist, who will hold the position of Policy Comms Director, will be “responsible for shaping a communications narrative and creating impactful campaigns around corporate, regulatory and political developments impacting the company across the EU,” according to a job posting on Binance’s website.

In order to have access to representatives from the European Commission and European Parliament, the position would be stationed full-time in Brussels.

Markets in Crypto Assets (MiCA) legislation, which would enforce consumer protection and financial stability rules on wallet providers and exchanges, is scheduled to become official in the EU in April. Laws in other sectors, including cryptocurrency lending and decentralized finance (DeFi), may soon follow.

Binance is already a member of the Brussels-based umbrella lobbying group Blockchain for Europe and is registered in numerous EU countries, including France, Italy, and Cyprus.

According to the website, Binance is also hiring for more entry-level policy communications positions across Asia and Latin America.

The hiring drive demonstrates the growing significance of policy to significant cryptocurrency businesses as European Union legislators work to include the industry in regulatory frameworks.

Previously, according to many users, Binance had been covertly closing down a number of accounts on the platform in connection with the Bitzlato probe, a fraudulent electronic exchange being targeted by US authorities. A spokeswoman for Binance released the following comment in response to Bloomberg‘s story that US FinCEN has named Binance as one of Bitzlato’s primary fund receivers.
