Optimism Will Distribute 590 Million OP In Many Next Airdrops

Optimism promises more OP airdrops shortly for project fans. Users can look forward to owning 590 million OP in the following airdrops.

On February 11, the Twitter account of the layer 2 Optimism project tweeted that there would be more airdrops. This layer 2 solutions has committed to allocating 19% of the initial token supply to the airdrop.

After the first and second airdrop rounds, there is still 13.73% of the remaining airdrop allocation or about 590 million OP. This project announced yesterday that they had started the second airdrop for users who use their leading network and actively participate in governance.

The total airdrop is 11.7 million OPs, distributed to 307,965 unique addresses. Eligible users for the airdrop include addresses with authorized voting rights to their OP.

Addresses have spent over $6.1 on Gas on this network since the first airdrop snapshot, and the second airdrop snapshot took place on January 20, 2023, at 0:00 UTC.

The airdrop comes as Optimism looks for an edge over its biggest competitor, Arbitrum, another Layer 2 Ethereum, albeit without a token. Arbritrum now boasts more than twice as many trading wallets as Optimism, widening the gap between the two exchanges’ exchange wallets over the past month.
