Larva Labs And Yuga Labs Donated NFTs To France’s Largest Modern Art Museum

Key Points:

  • Larva Labs and Yuga Labs donated NFT art to the Centre Pompidou for their permanent collection.
  • CryptoPunk #110 and Autoglyph #25 have been donated to the museum.
  • Both NFTs are part of the permanent collection at the museum.
NFT artwork was donated to the Centre Pompidou, the Paris Art Museum, for their permanent collection by Larva Labs and Yuga Labs.

Both companies are happy to be a part of a permanent collection commemorating vital work of this kind via Twitter on February 11, 2023. They view the network as a medium in and of itself, with possibilities beyond simply being a register of possession.

On February 10, Centre Pompidou also unveiled plans for a forthcoming permanent exhibition that would focus on the relationship between nonfungible assets on the blockchain and art.

The Centre will exhibit NFTs by more than. 16 digital artists from across the world, including well-known collectibles like CryptoPunk #110 and Autoglyph #25, both of which were donated to the Centre Pompidou.

The National Museum of Modern Art’s director, Xavier Rey, stated:

“With the entry of CryptoPunk #110, from one of the most popular NFT series of its kind, into the collection of the National Museum of Modern Art, the Centre Pompidou is pursuing its interest in digital art, in connection with the blockchain. Web3 is an innovative territory that artists have now seized upon to create original and daring work, and this collection reaffirms our support for artists in their conquest of new means of expression, which is the foundation of modern art.”

The CryptoPunks IP’s owner, Yuga, handed the NFT to the gallery as a part of its Punks Legacy Project. As part of an initiative to place CryptoPunks at renowned institutions all around the world in November, CryptoPunk #305 was given to Miami’s Institute of Contemporary Art.

Autoglyphs are far less frequent. Initial CryptoPunks creator Larva Labs has developed an Ethereum-based generative art project using merely 512 NFTs in total. Larva Labs donated the sculpture to the Centre Pompidou.

The partnership with the Centre Pompidou, one of the most prominent institutions for contemporary art in the world, demonstrates that the company is now acknowledging CryptoPunks as a crucial art movement, according to a statement from Yuga.
