Justin Sun, the Ambassador of Grenada to the World Trade Organization, will be stepping down from his position effective March 31, 2023.

In a statement, he expressed his gratitude for the experiences and support he received during his time in office. Sun plans to take some time off before returning to his career as a public servant, with a focus on the digital economy and crypto regulation. During his tenure, he was privileged to represent Grenada at the WTO and work with an exceptional team of professionals.

Sun also had the opportunity to communicate and collaborate with counterparts from several countries and regions, including the European Union, France, Russia, Switzerland, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, China, India, and the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States. He engaged with all 164 members of the WTO, learning from their experiences and expertise.

These interactions allowed him better to understand the complexities and nuances of trade negotiations and represent Grenada’s interests effectively. As he prepares to hand over the baton to his successor, Sun is confident that the team will continue pursuing Grenada’s interests with the same level of commitment and diligence they have demonstrated over the past two years.

He sincerely appreciated all the WTO members, their partners, colleagues, and particularly the Director-General of WTO, Dr. Okonjo-Iweala, for her support and collaboration during his tenure. In conclusion, Sun reiterated Grenada’s commitment to the multilateral trading system and their desire to see a WTO that is modern, transparent, and inclusive of the developmental interests of all members, particularly developing and least-developed countries.
