Bitcoin.org website hacked, hackers tricked user into sending bitcoins to their wallet to get double back | Sept 23

Bitcoin.org, the oldest cryptocurrency website registered by Satoshi Nakamoto and Martti Malmi, is currently displaying a fake giveaway message as a popup.

We advise people not to send money to scammers’ wallets | Screenshots.

Scammers ask people to send bitcoins to their addresses and promise to return double the amount the person sent them.

This is a well-known form of scam in the crypto market, but it still requires a lot of money from newbies.

Bitcoin.org is operated by the anonymous developer “Cobra”, who was recently exposed to multiple Denial-of-Service attacks (DDoS) by bad guys.

In July, Bitcoin.org was forced to delete the Bitcoin whitepaper after “fake Satoshi” Craig Wright won a lawsuit against Cobra. Wright claimed that being the founder of Bitcoin should automatically have rights to the white paper. However, Cobra lost the case not because the court recognized Wright as Satoshi, but simply because Cobra refused to reveal his identity in court because he did not attend the trial, so Wright was the winner by default.
