Grayscale’s Solana Trust (GSOL) Now Trading On OTC Markets

Key Points:

  • Grayscale’s Solana Trust (GSOL) is now trading on OTC Markets, expanding the range of investment opportunities for digital asset investors.
  • Solana (SOL) is a cryptocurrency that powers the Solana Network, a blockchain platform that enables users to create and execute smart contracts using SOL.
Grayscale Investments has made an announcement that its Solana Trust (GSOL) is now trading on OTC Markets, making it the company’s 16th digital currency investment product available on the exchange.

Solana (SOL) is a cryptocurrency that powers the Solana Network. This blockchain platform enables users to create and execute smart contracts on the network and pay for them using SOL. Solana is designed to expand the applications of blockchain technology beyond just a peer-to-peer payment system similar to Ethereum. The network features a unique Proof-of-History timestamping mechanism that provides faster transaction processing and greater capacity compared to other blockchain networks.

The Trust tracks the CoinDesk Solana Price Index (SLX), and the investment objective is for the value of the shares to reflect the value of Solana held by the Trust, as determined by reference to the SLX at 4:00 p.m. New York time, less the Trust’s expenses and other liabilities.

The Trust is an investment vehicle that aims to allow investors to gain exposure to the price movement of Solana, so investors can avoid the challenges of buying, storing, and safekeeping the asset directly.

As of April 14, 2023, the Grayscale Solana Trust had 304,427 outstanding shares, according to GlobeNewswire. These shares are eligible to be sold in the public market after a one-year holding period as required by Rule 144 of the Securities Act of 1933. Investors with access to U.S. securities can buy and sell GSOL shares through their investment accounts just like other securities.

Grayscale’s investment products are available to institutional and individual accredited investors through periodic and ongoing private placements. In addition to GSOL, Grayscale also sponsors single-asset investment products providing exposure to various digital assets, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Litecoin. Grayscale’s diversified products include Grayscale DeFi Fund, Digital Large Cap Fund, and Smart Contract Platform Ex-Ethereum Fund.
