MicroStrategy’s Saylor Pioneers Bitcoin Integration Into Corporate Email

Key Points:

  • Michael Saylor integrates Bitcoin’s Lightning Network into corporate email address for bitcoin donations.
  • Anyone can send BTC to saylor@microstrategy.com.
  • Lightning Network allows for cheaper and faster bitcoin payments.
Michael Saylor, the co-founder of the business analytics software firm MicroStrategy (MSTR), is a well-known proponent of Bitcoin, the world’s largest cryptocurrency. Recently, he has taken a step further towards integrating Bitcoin into his daily business operations.

He has integrated Bitcoin’s Lightning Network into his corporate email address, saylor@microstrategy.com. This integration allows anyone to send Bitcoin to the billionaire using this email address.

The integration uses The Lightning Address protocol, which allows developers to replace the standard Lightning invoice or payment request with an internet identifier such as an email address. Using the Lightning Network, this new protocol makes Bitcoin payments faster and cheaper. This means that sending Bitcoin to Saylor is easier and quicker, making it more accessible for his fans to support him.

The Lightning Network is a second-layer scaling solution for Bitcoin. It was designed to make Bitcoin payments faster and cheaper by reducing the number of transactions that need to be processed on the Bitcoin blockchain. This makes Bitcoin more scalable and efficient, making it more accessible to people who may not have used it before.

Saylor’s company has amassed approximately 140,000 BTC, which is worth around $4 billion at current prices. This massive investment in Bitcoin by MicroStrategy has made headlines across the globe. Additionally, Saylor has been receiving small Bitcoin donations from his fans after tweeting about the integration. This shows that his fans are supportive of his move towards integrating Bitcoin into his daily business operations.
