Dapper Labs closes $ 250 million funding round at a valuation of $ 7.6 billion

Dapper Labs, the company behind NBA Top Shot and Blockchain Flow called completed a $ 250 million round of funding valued up to $ 7.6 billion.

Coatue Investment Fund led the round, in which a16z, GV (formerly Google Ventures), Version One Ventures, BOND, GIC and a few others participated.

“We have proven the concept that is why investors are so eager to work with us,” said Roham Gharegozlou, CEO of Dapper Labs.

Gharegozlou believes that the future of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) will be “the currency of fandom” (Fan base)“And said the raise will help expand NBA Top Shot’s operations and create new sports companies around the world, including European football with huge fan bases.

Dapper’s investment round comes just a day after sports NFT platform Sorare raised $ 680 million at a valuation of $ 4.3 billion.

In another announcement on Wednesday, Dapper Labs announced a partnership with LaLiga, Spain’s highest professional football league, to launch the football market.

The marketplace will showcase digital collections from the league’s 20 teams, including popular clubs Real Madrid and Barcelona.

Like Dapper Labs’ hugely successful NBA top shot project, the LaLiga soccer marketplace will run on the company’s flow blockchain. Dapper Labs is scheduled to start in summer 2022.

NBA Top Shot, Dapper Labs’ crown jewel, which has seen exponential growth over the past year, with $ 780 million worth of collectibles traded on the platform, has already registered over 1.1 million accounts by 2021.
