Twitter’s Bitcoin rollout includes the integration of Strike, a Bitcoin payment application based on a Layer 2 network. According to data from 1ML, around 27,037 nodes are running on Lugnting, of which 15,887 buttons contain active payment channels. The number of channels also rose and exceeded the total of 73,000, an increase of 8.4%. The capacity of the network has increased by 19% and now reaches the new 3000 BTC blocked in payment channels. CEO and founder of Fulmo Jeff Gallas, a Lightning NEtwork startup based in Berlin, said:
“It’s exciting to see the latest Lightning Network launch in the real world. More and more parts are coming together. “
He then went on to say that the Lightning Network’s support on Twitter allows anyone to send payments around the world, and Galls continued:
“Immediately, at very low cost, worldwide. The power of open source monetary innovation. “
Lightning Network is still considered a young network and experimental technology, but has seen some important developments in the last few weeks and months. One example is the global peer-to-peer exchange Paxful, which integrated the technology earlier this month. Another project that added Lightning Network support is Substack, a popular online platform that allows authors to set up their newsletters. A month ago, Substack announced that they will be using the BTC acceptance protocol to pay for all crypto-related publications.
