Big Boom: Axie Infinity Game Is Now Launched On the App Store
Key Points:
Its arrival on the App Store comes five months after the game’s debut on Google’s Play Store. Axie Infinity was formerly inaccessible on both platforms, necessitating a download through Sky Mavis’ website.
Argentina, Colombia, Peru, Mexico, Venezuela, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Vietnam are among the launch areas for the game, which focuses on Latin America and portions of Southeast Asia. It has 1.5 million installations across all platforms and intends to expand globally via Google and Apple mobile consumers.
Sky Mavis is also introducing Mavis Market, a curated NFT marketplace powered by the company’s own Ronin blockchain. Certain treasures from third-party game or dapp developers that use Ronin will be accessible on the marketplace beginning Wednesday. The firm also intends to open a merchandise shop. Sky Mavis CEO Trung Nguyen stated:
“Sky Mavis remains committed to our vision of a player-owner digital nation and is excited to work with app stores to open our ecosystem to a new generation of Lunacians.”
The move is the next step in Sky Games’ long-term ambition to capitalize on the success of Axie Infinity Classic in 2021 by providing a better gaming experience that does not need players to purchase NFTs and is accessible via standard app stores.
The restricted deployment, according to Sky Mavis co-founder Jeffrey Zirlin, would let the company collect data regarding retention rates before an eventual worldwide debut.
Holders of Axie NFTs, on the other hand, will be allowed to utilize them in the app, however, other blockchain functionality accessible inside the app will be confined to Moonshard crafting recipes. Creating recipes using the SLP token must be done on the desktop version of the game.
Axie Infinity: Origins is a strategy game in which players gather cards and employ the titular Axies – a variety of monsters – to combat, defeat chimeras, and compete in the arena. The game has already had 1.5 million installations across its existing platforms, making it the poster child for the quick ascent of NFT-powered games and the play-to-earn phenomenon.
However, Ronin blockchain experienced a $600 million attack in tandem with the 2022 cooling crypto market, and the title’s erratic surge was halted short.
Since the robbery in August 2022, the game has been licking its wounds, so this new option for mobile players to explore the game is a chance for it to acquire new admirers and rise again.
Origins makes itself more accessible than the last Axie Infinity game by providing players with free non-NFT beginning Axies. It is optional to spend money on new Axie NFTs.
