An enormous network fee was refunded by the Ethereum miner after a faulty transaction by the decentralized exchange DeversiFi.
Yesterday (September 27th) the DeversiFi team discovered a transaction with extremely high network fees. follow Etherscan, a user connected to the hardware wallet returned 7,676 ETH, which was worth about $ 23 million at the time.
Another interesting point regarding this transaction is that by choosing EIP-1559, the sender saved up to 9015 ETH (over $ 27 million) in transaction fees.
$ 100,000 worth of transactions with over $ 23 million in Bitfinex fees
DeversiFi is operated by Bitfinex, which paid 7,676 Ethereum in gas fees for a 100,000 USDT transaction. DeversiFi later confirmed the information, saying that customer funds were not affected and that this was a bug transaction.
Bitfinex CTO Paolo Ardoino has assured users that the problem is their own responsibility if something goes wrong.
“No users will be affected. Deversifi has confirmed to be careful with this. And in the worst case scenario, Finex will settle with the company’s money. No users are affected. “
Fortunately for Bitfinex, the miner agreed to open on Jan.
Bitfinex tweeted this morning Thanks very much the miner and said that an in-depth investigation was being carried out.
“Thanks to the miner who dismantled block 13307440 who returned 7,626 ETH as Tx fees due to an error in yesterday’s payment.”
Members of the crypto community questioned the inequality in the amount returned, pointing out that the miner had withheld 50 ETH, or $ 150,000.
Many also questioned Ethereum’s high transaction fees, which have skyrocketed again and could be a factor in the confusion around transaction fee settings.
follow BitInfoCharts, the average transaction fee for Ethereum has risen to $ 45. This is the highest charge since September 9, when gas charges fell from the second highest ever.
Etherscan’s gas tracker is reporting a whopping $ 74 for token swaps on Uniswap and even more for performing complex smart contract operations.
The only good news is that the Ethereum burn rate is currently at 4.94 ETH per minute Ultrasound, money. To date, 383,256 ETH, or about $ 1.12 billion, has been burned since the London hard fork was launched in early August.
