This move by the agency’s Complex Financial Crime Team (CFCT) aims to tackle the rising tide of crypto-related crimes.

The appointed investigators will delve into sophisticated cases of crypto fraud, money laundering, and blockchain-based criminal activities orchestrated by organized crime syndicates. To enhance their operations, these investigators will collaborate with a surveillance team as well as the London police force.

The NCA‘s Investigations Directorate is a dynamic collective force aimed at combating serious and organized crime effectively. The agency’s multifaceted teams address diverse threats in alignment with other law enforcement agencies, private industries, and police forces.

The role, which commands a salary ranging from £34,672 to £38,314, requires candidates to possess a current or active Professionalising Investigation Programme Level 2 accreditation or an equivalent government-issued qualification in investigative crime.

This novel position is within the recently established Digital Assets Team (DAT) within CFCT, designed to ensure meticulous compliance with the Criminal Procedure and Investigations Act 1996 (CPIA) during complex investigations into blockchain-enabled crimes.

The focus will be on probing criminal activities in virtual spaces, addressing high-value cryptocurrency fraud, money laundering offenses, and crimes committed by formidable organized crime groups and state entities.

Collaboration will be a cornerstone of this role, as the investigators will work closely with CPS, intelligence units, and analysis personnel to guarantee efficient handling of disclosure requirements.

The Digital Assets Team maintains a symbiotic relationship with other CFCT elements and the broader law enforcement community in their pursuit of enhanced cybercrime mitigation.
