Open Campus launched its blockchain protocol, Open Campus ID, which issues decentralized identifiers (DIDs) in the form of soulbound tokens (SBTs).

Open Campus has announced the launch of its blockchain protocol, Open Campus ID, which issues decentralized identifiers (DIDs) in the form of soulbound tokens (SBTs). These non-transferable NFTs are virtual representations of learners’ online personas.

The primary benefit for learners is that they have control over what information is associated with their OC IDs. They can decide which pieces of information they want to share and when they want to share them, including their learning profile.

Phase 1 of the Open Campus ID launch will open for EDU or Genesis NFT (Backpack and Notebook) holders who have shown support to the platform since its early days. 1,000 spots will be available on a first-come-first-served basis. To be able to mint, EDU holders must hold at least 50 EDU in their on-chain wallet, while Genesis NFT holders of Golden Backpack and Silver Notebook are among the first in line to claim their Open Campus ID.

The launch for Phase 1 will be on September 14, 2021, at 10:00 UTC. Eligible participants can save the date and time and access the link provided below. Registrants will receive their very own .edu domain with a name of their choosing, which represents their on-chain education identity. Educators and students can now verify their learning credentials or send funds directly to their .edu address.
