Initial Game Offering (IGO)

Understanding Initial Game Offering (IGO)

An Initial Game Offering (IGO) is a new trend in the cryptocurrency world that shares similarities with Initial Coin Offering (ICO). However, IGOs focus on hosting gaming projects that utilize non-fungible tokens (NFTs) or tokens as their in-game currency and rewards.

Investors can invest their funds in gaming projects offered by IGO launchpads and expect a significant return on investment (ROI) once the gaming project is launched on major crypto exchanges or gains popularity within the gaming community.

With the increasing popularity of blockchain gaming, IGOs are emerging as the next big thing in the crypto space. Games like Axie Infinity (AXS), CryptoBlades (SKILL), and Alien Worlds (TLM) have already gained thousands of daily active users. Axie Infinity, in particular, has achieved over $1.1 billion USD in sales so far in 2021.

As a result of this immense popularity, several IGO launchpads have emerged, including Gamefi (GAFI), Enjinstarter (ENJINSTARTER), Gamestarter (GAME), Seedify.fund (SFUND), and others.

GameFi is one of the pioneering launchpads to introduce the concept of initial game offerings (IGO). Currently, the GameFi platform features two live IGOs: $KABY Pool and Deathroad IGO. Both games offer their initial tokens to gamers, who can either hold them for potential price appreciation or use them to enhance their blockchain gaming experience.

Enjinstarter is another IGO launchpad that offers unique projects and features, including yield farms, NFT-based platforms, and DeFi platforms. The project is built on Enjin’s Jumpnet, a platform that enables game developers to build communities and run marketing campaigns to promote gaming projects.

The primary purpose of offering IGOs is to provide early access to gaming assets, allowing early investors to potentially earn significant returns on their investment in the future.

While IGOs may seem like a promising investment opportunity, it is essential to consider a few factors before investing in any IGO platform or projects in their initial game offering (IGO) phase:

  • Examine the holder benefits associated with the native tokens. Compare the percentage of benefits offered by different IGOs.
  • Determine whether the IGO launchpad provides guaranteed allocation. Keep in mind that guaranteed allocation may come at a higher cost compared to IGO launchpads that use a lottery mechanism.
  • Evaluate the ROI of active IGOs offered on the platform. A launchpad with a track record of successful projects is more likely to generate significant returns on future projects.
  • Assess the launchpad’s holder value, which serves as a performance metric for any IGO launchpad. A higher holder value indicates a higher token valuation, suggesting that investing in that IGO may be beneficial.
  • Consider the number of token generation events hosted by an IGO launchpad. A higher number of events indicates the platform’s commitment to hosting quality initiatives and enhancing its overall valuation.

In conclusion, investing in IGOs and IGO launchpads requires careful evaluation, just like any other investment decision. It is crucial to assess the reputation of the IGO launchpad and its commitment to supporting major gaming projects in the future.
