On September 11th, Tan contacted himself to apologize. Lu Ky Anh pretended to accept in order to find an opportunity to go to his lover’s house to carry out the plan. That night, while his lover was soundly asleep, La Ky Anh snuck a fake watch into his collection to take the real one and hide it.

The next morning, La Ky Anh found an excuse to cause trouble, broke up with Tan, and took the watch to mortgage a billion dong. A few days later, while cleaning up Tan’s collection, he discovered the watch was fake, so he went to the police to report this as he suspected the maid.

During this time, La Ky Anh also asked friends to find a place to sell the watch in order to repay it. The picture of an expensive Rolex being sold on the Internet made the police suspicious. During the investigation, the police called the people involved and then arrested La Ky Anh.

Pursuant to Article 173 of the Criminal Code of 2015, revised in 2017 on the property theft offense, the offense of appropriating property worth VND 500,000,000 or more is punishable by a prison sentence of 12 to 20 years. In addition, offenders can be fined from VND 5,000,000 to VND 50,000,000.
