Telegram Introduces Revenue Sharing for Channel Owners Via TON blockchain Toncoin

Currently, Telegram broadcast channels amass an impressive 1 trillion views monthly, but only a small fraction, approximately 10%, are monetized through Telegram Ads, emphasizing the need for alternative revenue streams.

To address this, Telegram is rolling out an ad revenue-sharing system in nearly 100 countries, exclusively paying out in TON blockchain Toncoin. The platform will split ad revenue 50:50 with channel owners, fostering a mutually beneficial ecosystem. Durov emphasized the similarity to the approach taken with Telegram usernames on Fragment.

The value of TON blockchain Toncoin surged over 30% to $2.93 following the announcement, reflecting the market’s positive response to the news. Transactions will be facilitated through the TON blockchain to ensure speed and security.

Telegram’s Ad Platform Set to Expand with TON Blockchain Integration

The model of sharing advertising revenue directly to users is offered by the social network in USD. Telegram has also previously made multiple follow-up announcements to receive TON, typically integrating a dedicated cryptocurrency wallet to allow users to transfer cryptocurrency directly through the messaging app.

Telegram, with its 196 million daily active users and 800 million monthly active users, is the fourth most popular messaging app globally. The introduction of ad revenue sharing signifies a significant step in enhancing the platform’s appeal to content creators and advertisers alike, potentially reshaping its monetization landscape.
