In its key quarterly report released on October 19, Cosmos said that its Sagan blockchain is currently in development. The project presented the blockchain release in a video message with a quote from the renowned astronomer Carl Sagan and an image of an interstellar canary.
The image of a canary could refer to the blockchain as an experimental “canary network,” the term used by the Polkadot Interoperability Protocol to describe its Kusama test network. In the case of Kusama, blockchain enables developers to create and use parachains or test Polkadot’s governance, staking, and other functions in a real-world environment.
Cosmos has grown steadily after introducing an inter-blockchain communication protocol in March that allows crypto assets to be easily transferred between compatible blockchains, including those in the financial sector. According to data from Mapofzones, there have been 1,285,426 transmissions across the cosmos ecosystem in the last 30 days.

Sagan’s announcement comes as Cosmos is also working on scaling technology to enable developers to create Cosmos-based blockchains as coiled chains that can be deployed in clusters in clusters. The solution is called Optimint to plan as an “additional replacement” for the Tendermint framework on which it is built.
