Pirate Nation is an immersive RPG where players transform into pirates to battle, collect, and trade rewards for profit. In its first season, the game conducted airdrops worth hundreds to tens of thousands of dollars, offering substantial player rewards.
As a Fully On-Chain Game (FOCG), Pirate Nation records every in-game action—collecting, buying, selling, exchanging, and upgrading boats—on the blockchain. This ensures transparency, security, and a unique player experience with traceable, immutable transactions.
Developed by Proof of Play, a pioneering game studio and blockchain company, Pirate Nation is their flagship product. Proof of Play has raised $33 million in a seed round led by a16z, highlighting the company’s potential and the game’s innovative edge in the gaming and blockchain sectors.

Pirate Nation belongs to the turn-based card game genre, with two game modes: PvE, where the opponent is always a computer, and PvP against other players.
In this turn-based system, each player gets 5 action points per turn. The cost in action points necessary to play any card is always indicated on the card itself; the value is then shown on the card. For example, it could be 2, 3, 0, 0, or 1, as it is on screen here.
Moreover, each card is explained with its different functions and usages so that players can plan accordingly. There are five main types of cards available in the game, and as different as possible, such as:
These card types can lead to a variety of dynamic strategies, different every time in combat.

From the selection screen in Pirate Nation, players can pick a pirate to become the captain of their team. Each pirate earns XP with each successful mission run. Upgrading the pirates can be done with Pirate Gold at each advancement level. A better-grade pirate holds more energy and can run missions with better rewards available.
Pirates come with elemental factors—Earth, Water, Air, Fire, and Lightning—that will give advantages and disadvantages in battle. For combat, pirates also hold the attributes:
These are attributes with much variety in strategies and plays, thereby leaving every different pirate well distinguished by their strengths and abilities.
Energy is what fuels all of Pirate Nation’s exciting adventures. Each member of the crew shares 150 points in energy that replenish with time—1 energy point every 10 minutes.
Using the energy, players can send any pirate on quests. Some quests involve special items or require the player to have a higher-level pirate. Quests reward players with most in-game items and currency types.
Pirate Nation has two kinds of currency in their use: Pirate Gold (PGLD) and Marks. These are currencies crucial to a pirate’s upgrade and crafting of items. Depending on any player’s Trading Lock status, only one can be used at any given time.
Ships are additional game content for Pirate Nation. Most of the time, players will build their ships from the High Seas Map and redeem it for a ship’s blueprint. The blueprints will then be usable to build the ship with all of their content.
Currently, there are four types of ships in Pirate Nation, each having their playstyle and pros and cons:
Combat in Pirate Nation goes through a series of stages. Initially, the game is going to be focused on PvE mode since PvP mode is under development.
The main stages of a match are as follows:
Driveway and mighty creatures, like the Megalodon, Sea Snake, and Kraken, exist in Pirate Nation. Players must team up to feel these titanic foes. The players can also challenge the World Boss during a World Boss event that occurs every few hours, again complying with the conditions of the event. A leaderboard keeps track of the total damage done by each player.
In the event of the World Boss being killed during an event, participants are rewarded according to their contribution; there are special leaderboard prizes for the top contributors. That player dealing the final, killing blow gets a special, rare, unique NFT of that World Boss. A World Boss is permanently removed from the game when killed.
Players can stake their PIRATE tokens to acquire PoP points, redeemable for future rewards.
Gems are the new currency in Pirate Nation and are only available for purchase with PIRATE tokens. Gems can be used for most purposes within the game, including:
PIRATE tokens created for the game have multiple purposes. Their rewards, open the doors to exclusive in-game activities and are essential for purchasing the gems necessary to pay for most of the various items that players may need or want for gameplay.

Pirate Nation has announced several exciting features in development—though it handed down no specific release dates for them as of yet. These features include the following:
Season 1 has already seen a huge success with Pirate Nation, with airdrop rewards amounting to hundreds and tens of thousands of dollars. This has resulted in gigantic advantages for many players, increasing their game experience and ranking.
CoinCu rates that Pirate Nation will soon be an extremely popular game due to its strategic and tactical gameplay, rewarding opportunities that come with Season 2, and support extended by the Arbitrum Foundation. Exciting gameplay but huge rewards will make it highly attractive to a large and loyal player base.
Quests are instrumental in resource gathering, reward earning, and leveling up in the game. They cost energy and sometimes require special items or higher-level pirates.
Each round, players draw action cards to deal damage, defend, and apply effects during combat. Strategies and reading opponents’ intentions are very essential to achieving success.
BOOTY Points are earned by players for a variety of activities in-game and can be redeemed for items, participating in a variety of events, or competing on leaderboards.
