Chainlink Data Streams and VRF Launch on Base Platform!

Key Points:

  • Chainlink Data Streams and VRF are now available on Base, enhancing DeFi capabilities.
  • Chainlink Data Streams offers low-latency market data, enabling ultra-fast and secure DeFi products on Base.
  • Chainlink VRF’s latest upgrade provides faster, more reliable random number generation with low-friction billing.
According to the official Chainlink website, both Chainlink Data Streams and Chainlink VRF have finally launched on Base—a quick, scalable layer-2 blockchain incubated by Coinbase and secured by Ethereum.

This finally introduces even more Chainlink products into the Base fold, so the network now supports the full suite of Chainlink solutions available to developers.

Chainlink Data Streams provides DeFi kits with unparalleled speed and user experience. It enables low-latency market data with automated execution and allows developers to unleash the potential for building high-throughput DeFi products at speeds unmatched in the entire market ecosystem. It allows developers to create high-speed DeFi applications that equal the functionality of their centralized exchange counterparts in terms of product performance and the provided security infrastructure.

Thodoris Karakostas, head of blockchain partnerships at Chainlink Labs, said Chainlink products and Base products supported a strong synergy. “The Base builder interface is naturally suited for Chainlink Products,” Karakostas said. He added that the introduction of Chainlink Data Streams would empower the development of the next generation of DeFi products on the platform. At the same time, Chainlink VRF will secure random number generation for intelligent contracts on Base.

Base Now Integrates Full Chainlink Product Suite

Built as an Ethereum Layer 2 solution, Base offers the ability, stability, and scalability crucial for dApp development. Most interestingly, the platform enables the deployment of any EVM codebase and provides onramps for users and assets from Ethereum L1, Coinbase, and other chains with which it interoperates. Base has been engineered to serve as the on-chain hub for the complete Coinbase ecosystem, open for outside developers to contribute innovation.

Tom Vieira, product lead at Base, was excited to integrate: “This is an exciting integration. We’re looking forward to seeing next-generation applications built on top of all the infrastructure solutions now available on Base for developers to build on-chain.”.

Chainlink VRF Upgrade Enhances Random Number Generation

Chainlink VRF is conveniently one of the most reliable on-chain random number generators, and it has serviced over 21 million requests across all great intelligent contract platforms. A new update—led by VRF v2.5—includes notable improvements, including low-friction billing, better gas consumption prediction, very fast response times, and very broad usability.

These integrations give Base developers access to the full Chainlink suite—Data Streams, VRF, CCIP, Functions, and Price Feeds—augmenting their power in building advanced blockchain applications.
