Money Laundering Charges Against Gambaryan

Gambaryan, a US citizen and Binance’s head of financial crime compliance was detained along with British-Kenyan regional manager Nadeem Anjarwalla after a series of meetings in Nigeria turned hostile. Binance chief executive Richard Teng has now spoken to report that earlier discussions with Nigerian officials included demands for crypto payments to be made in secret, as well as threats against their team, despite later being assured that they would be safe.

On the stand, Binance exec Tigran Gambaryan walked on crutches, complaining that prison officers refused to provide him with a wheelchair. His counsel, Mark Mordi, made a fresh bail application, arguing that his health condition was deteriorating.

However, a lawyer for the Nigerian Economic and Financial Crimes Commission said those health issues were long-standing because Gambaryan had lived with a herniated disc for over a decade.
