The Solana Seeker represents the second go-around from Solana Mobile to bring crypto into the mobile space. Building upon the success of Saga, Seeker was released during the Token 2049 conference in Singapore. It is definitely one designed to be more affordable but an improved version of Saga, yet it still manages to power the growing demand for mobile crypto applications across the Solana ecosystem.
The pre-orders received for the Seeker, an android that will be launched sometime in mid-2025, are over 140,000 units. It is designed to support DeFi, payment, and dApps, specifically for users of Web3. Compared to the Saga, the Seeker comes with a much more compact model but is still a powerful development for its goal of becoming the flagship mobile Web3 device.
The Seeker boasts several key hardware updates geared toward ensuring a better user experience. While the screen size is reduced to 6.36″ from Saga’s 6.67″, this latest AMOLED display is brighter for better outdoor visibility. The phone will add higher-spec cameras to make it a more viable competitor against flagship smartphones, featuring 108MP and 32MP sensors. These changes will make handling QR codes for scanning dApps and crypto transactions much smoother and even safer.
Internally, the Seeker will boast 128GB of storage and 8GB of memory, dropping from Saga’s specs but will be quite enough to handle several crypto operations. Its built-in Seed Vault wallet-one of the key features carried over from Offers enhanced security for the management of crypto keys with integrated self-custody and has become a trusted tool in crypto transactions.
And for that, the dApp Store of Seeker has been upgraded in such a way that everybody has a better alternative to choose the crypto apps running on their mobile device without those fees typical for usage in various application stores, such as Apple or Google Play. This could spur the adoption and utilization of mobile Web3 applications much faster.
Like its predecessor, the Seeker is being marketed as an “airdrop magnet”. While airdrops contributed significantly to the popularity of the Saga, Solana has emphasized that Seeker will offer more than just financial incentives. The Seeker Genesis Token, a non-transferrable soulbound token, will act as a VIP pass for exclusive rewards within the Solana ecosystem, including access to decentralized finance (DeFi), memecoins, and gaming dApps.
Solana Mobile also aims to integrate the Seeker with Decentralized Physical Infrastructure Networks (DePIN), allowing users to contribute data to decentralized networks such as Helium Mobile, earning rewards in return. This expands the Seeker’s utility, positioning it as a practical tool for both crypto enthusiasts and developers.
Although Solana Mobile has not made detailed tokenomics for the Seeker available, the device is likely to further the trend established with Saga and continue rewarding its users with unique NFTs and tokens. According to their guarantee, Seeker users are entitled to receive up to $322 in token value at launch through airdrops.
Founded by Anatoly Yakovenko, Solana Labs is the power behind Seeker. The general manager of Solana Mobile, Emmett Hollyer, spearheaded the development of the phone. Much of the work involved in developing the project Seeker is based on the community and partnerships that were developed with the Saga by bringing together developers, dApp creators, and blockchain enthusiasts to develop a feature-rich Web3 mobile experience.
The Seeker is expected to go to market in mid-2025, and pre-orders are already happening, with over 140,000 devices preordered globally to date. Solana continues to work on the final integration and upgrades of its Web3 features for the device. Success will likely hinge on continued partnerships inside the Solana ecosystem and the development of its dApp Store.
The Solana Seeker is going to be one of the defining products in the Web3 mobile world, offering a holistic platform for decentralized apps, gaming, and crypto transactions. A connection to the Solana ecosystem-anything but a so-called “memecoin phone”-opens the gates to new dimensions of mobile-first crypto experiences.
CoinCu also stated that the Seeker is in high demand within the DePIN and Web3 markets as it will provide entertainment for its users at the same time as an entry point to airdrops and dApps. Equipped with better hardware and incentivization through the community, the Seeker will be a prized candidate in the blockchain smartphone market.
The Seeker launches in mid-2025, and there are already over 140,000 pre-orders set worldwide.
Pre-orders went for $450, but early adopters can get it for $500 during the window.
The Seeker comes equipped with a 108MP camera, an AMOLED display for vibrant visuals, and a built-in Seed Vault Wallet, ensuring secure cryptocurrency transactions.
