The Worldcoin rebranding was announced in a live event called “A New World,” in San Francisco. Major updates to the global initiative-which is expected to increasingly sort out humans from bots in an AI-powered world-were presented by Tools for Humanity CEO Alex Blania and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman.

The new vision of the world is focused on expanding its identity technologies from the current base of some 7 million verified users to 700 million or more.

Technology developed by the company has positioned itself as essential in enabling people and businesses to navigate the challenges created by AI. A key part of this would be to give them the tools that would increasingly empower more and more people to participate in the digital economy and benefit from the AI revolution.

World’s Identity Solutions to Counter Deepfakes and Improve User Experience

The project showed off a new form of its Orb iris-scanning device as it announced the Worldcoin rebranding. The new Orb is fitted with the latest Nvidia Jetson chipset, an enhanced form of its predecessor. It delivers nearly five times better AI performance using even fewer components. The tool will be used in the company’s self-service kiosks to scale its identity verification services.

In addition, World is developing the means whereby people can connect to the network without iris scans. This includes identifying users by way of using their NFC-enabled passports.

World is also fighting deepfakes, really upping digital identity verification, and is integrating its technology into popular platforms such as FaceTime, WhatsApp, and Zoom. The company is updating its mobile app to support third-party mini apps that will let a wider range of services within its ecosystem.
