Recently, Hellcat Ransomware attacked the French multi-national Schneider Electric and asked for a ransom in kind of $125,000 in Monero. The given ransom note includes the publication of 40Gb of sensitive data in case that is not availed. This would be the third cyber-attack in the span of two years, showing how distressingly one-sided these attacks have been on the company’s systems and data.
The ransomware attackers of Hellcat are unusually sophisticated and reportedly accessed both private customer information and data on operations. Attackers of this type use such sensitive information as leverage; that is why big companies like Schneider Electric need to deploy strong cybersecurity measures, according to Decrypt.
